Curriculum

Curriculum (ADE Standard 9.0)

The Cabot Public School District's program for gifted students adheres to the Gifted and Talented Rules and Regulations: Program Approval Standards set by the Arkansas Department of Education. In order to meet these standards, the curriculum offered for the gifted "must differ not only in degree, but in kind. It is important to avoid simply 'more of the same.' It should be in place of rather than in addition to required classroom work."

The Gifted and Talented Curriculum was developed by the Cabot Public School District to better meet the needs of gifted students. These activities and lessons were created through a collaborative effort of the Director of Gifted/AP Programs and the G/T specialists in the district. The descriptions on the links below are a selection of the curricular options we offer in our program.

Our program strives to provide students the freedom to study areas of interest in expanded levels of inquiry and the opportunity to develop a sense of individual worth and a responsibility to self and to society. When looking at curriculum, our district evaluates new materials based on five processes that are considered fundamental to the development of a differentiated curriculum: critical thinking, creativity, research, self-awareness, and communication.
