CHS Medical Academy Students Learn To Be Surgeons With Live Demonstration

Hundreds of Cabot High School Medical Academy students had the opportunity to experience what it's like to be a surgeon for a day.

Midsouth Orthopedics in Little Rock which represents Arthrex Surgical Products brought in Little Rock Surgeon Dr. Joel Smith. Dr. Smith works for Ortho Arkansas. Recently, he performed ACL surgery on a cadaver specimen in the CHS Auditorium for close to 300 students to witness.

After the surgery Dr. Smith answered questions from the students. The medical honors students also had the opportunity to get hands-on experience with other cadaver specimens. They also learned how to use arthroscopy tools that are used in surgery.
