Hundreds of Seniors Awarded Scholarships at Banquet

March 14, 2016

Close to 700 students, parents, and community members packed the Freshman Academy cafeteria for the annual Cabot Scholarship Foundation “Roast and Toast” Banquet.

The event recognized 109 Cabot High School seniors who received scholarships from the Cabot Scholarship Foundation. The Cabot Scholarship Foundation, a non-profit organization, was formed in 1992 by the Cabot Centennial Committee, to encourage and recognize academic success in Cabot Schools.

These scholarships would not be possible without the overwhelming support from the Cabot community and the Cabot School District. More than 300 CHS seniors applied for the scholarships. Out of the 109 recipients, 68 students started kindergarten or first grade at the Cabot School District.

The night was also a celebration of this year's honoree, Dr. Martha Ann Ray Marshall. Dr. Marshall is a 1962 graduate of Cabot High School and is celebrating her 46th year in education.

Three of Dr. Marshall's dear friends, Doug Erwin, Steven Blackwood, and Jane Balgavy roasted Dr. Marshall. They shared stories of their times together which filled the room with laughter.

Congratulations to Dr. Marshall and all the 2016 Cabot High School seniors who were awarded scholarships this year. Also, a big thank you to the Cabot Scholarship Foundation and all the businesses and individuals for contributing to these scholarships.

Hundreds attending the Cabot Scholarship Foundation's Roast & Toast Banquet at the Cabot Freshman Academy! What a great crowd.
