State Basketball and Bowling Champions Honored at State Capitol

April 28, 2016

It was a big day for our basketball and bowling champions. The Cabot High School boys basketball team, girls bowling team, and boys bowling team were all honored at the Arkansas State Capitol Tuesday.

All three teams are Class 7A State Champions and were recognized for their hard work and dedication. In fact, this is the first state title for the boys basketball team. For bowling, this is the fifth consecutive win for the boys and the first back-to-back win for the girls. It's also the girls fifth overall win.

The teams started their day off with a tour of the capitol. They were then greeted by Governor Asa Hutchinson in the Governor's Conference Room. Students and coaches had a chance to visit with the Governor and have their pictures taken with him.

Another highlight included receiving a standing ovation in the House Chambers. The teams were special guests of Representative Tim Lemons. He awarded each athlete and coach House citations recognizing their accomplishments. Representative Lemons thank you for being a great host.

Students also had a chance to have their picture taken on the Senate Floor thanks to Senator Eddie Joe Williams.

Another memorable moment of the day included a visit to the State Treasurer's office where everyone had the opportunity to hold $100,000 in their hands.

Thank you to everyone who made the visit to the Arkansas State Capitol possible. Our coaches and athletes were honored to be invited.
