AR 10 Mile Classic a Success!

May 4, 2016

The Cabot Band hosted the Arkansas 10 Mile Classic, which is the RRCA State Championship 10 Mile Race, on April 16th, 2016 at Murray Park in Little Rock.

There were around 100 participants who ranged in ages from 11 to 73. Two participants came from Wisconsin and New Mexico. In-state participants came from as far as Walnut Ridge, Fayetteville, and Nashville.

The CHS Jazz Band played for the runners at the start of the race and students helped provide water, Gatorade, and encouragement to runners as they ran the course. The overall winner was Tim Richard, originally from NLR, who completed the 10 miles in 59:12, an average of 5:55/mile.

David Meroney, the RRCA State Rep, was at the race and assisted in passing out awards at the Awards Ceremony. Runners received a finisher's medal and a race t-shirt. RRCA medals were given to the top male and female in Open Class, Master's, Grand Master's, and Senior Grand Master's. Age group awards were also given.
