Cabot Archery Competes In Regional Tournament

Cabot Archery had 70 students compete in the ANASP Region 8 Student Tournament Saturday, Feb 11th. The students were divided into three teams of 24 students based on their school. These teams were from Cabot Junior High South, the Cabot Freshman Academy, and Cabot High School.

Teams had to finish in the top 3 of their division to qualify for state. Two of our Cabot teams qualified to compete at the ANASP State Tournament. Cabot High School finished 1st in the senior high division. Cabot Junior High South finished 3rd in the middle school division. The Freshman Academy barely missed a chance to go to state by finishing 4th.

While no individual awards are given at regionals, Cabot had many shooters that did well.  Out of the 22 top shooters at the tournament, 10 of them were from Cabot.

 

Hunter Woerner (CHS): Hunter shot a 285 out of 300 to finish 3rd overall, including both genders and divisions.

Lexxi Halpine (CJHS): Lexxi shot a 284 to finish 4th overall and 2nd in the middle school division.

Gabe Osbon (CFA):  Gabe shot a 283 placing him 5th overall.

Kaleb Garner (CHS):  Kaleb shot a 282 placing him 6th overall.

Other top 20 overall scores include:

  •  Nathan Harpole,(CHS) with a score of 278
  •  Dylan Skinner,  (CFA) with a score of 278
  •  Sam Mclaughlin, (CFA) with a score of  274
  •  Austin Calhoun, (CHS) with a score of 274
  •  Darren Yonkey, (CHS) with a score of 274  
  •  Haley Rollins, (CHS) with a score of  274  

In the middle division, Alyssa Elliott (CJHS) and Devlin Tomblinson (CJHS) both shot a 262 out of 300 to finish 16th and 17th.

This was the 4th consecutive year for CJHS to compete in the state tournament. This was CHS's first state tournament. The high school has only had an archery team for the past two years. 

The state tournament will be held at the Hot springs Convention Center. CJHS will be shooting Friday, March 3rd and CHS will be shooting Saturday, March 4th. Shooting/Flight times are TBD.
