April School Board Recognition 2017

April 28, 2017

Ten outstanding CHS seniors were recognized for their academic achievements at the April School Board meeting.

National Merit Finalists

The Cabot School District is proud to recognize our 10 National Merit Finalists for the 2016-2017 school year.

The National Merit® Scholarship Program is an academic competition for recognition and scholarships that began in 1955. High school students enter this program by taking the Preliminary SAT and by achieving a particular score on the exam. According to nationalmerit.org, of the 1.5 million entrants, some 50,000 with the highest PSAT/NMSQT® Selection Index scores (critical reading + mathematics + writing skills scores) qualify for recognition in the National Merit® Scholarship Program.

Congratulations to these outstanding students:

Arkansas Times Academic All-Star

Twenty outstanding high school students are selected to the 2017 Arkansas Times Academic All-Star Team. This program recognizes the Top 20 highest academic achievers in Arkansas and Cabot claimed two of the 20 spots!

Congratulations to Jared Gilliam and Avery Elliott!

*Before the meeting, school board members had the opportunity to work collaboratively with classroom teachers on how formative assessments are being used to drive classroom instruction.
