Two CHS Seniors Named AR Times Academic All-Stars

May 2, 2017

Cabot High School seniors Avery Elliott and Jared Gilliam have both been named Arkansas Times Academic All-Stars 2017.

This award honors the best and brightest in the state. Cabot High School was honored with two of the 20 spots.

Avery plans to attend the University of Arkansas and study medicine. She is a National Merit Finalist who has volunteered extensively with Special Olympics. She has already completed 43 hours of college-level coursework.

Avery has been awarded the University of Arkansas Fellowship and plans to study medicine at UAMS after completing her undergrad degree. She then plans to practice medicine in Arkansas.

Jared plans to attend the University of Arkansas and study engineering. He is also a National Merit Finalist and scored a perfect 36 on his ACT. Jared says his favorite subject in school is math.

The U of A has offered Jared the Honors College Fellowship. He says the drive to excel academically has always been a part of his life and he doesn't think he could settle for not being successful.

Jared and Avery recently attended a ceremony at UALR where they were given plaques and $250 cash awards.

Congratulations again to Jared Gilliam and Avery Elliott!
