Cabot Students To View Chasing the Dragon

October 23, 2017

During Red Ribbon Week, thousands of students, including Cabot 9th-12th graders will have the opportunity to watch a powerful video about opioid addiction.

Chasing the Dragon: The Life of an Opiate Addict video was produced by the FBI. The agency is working with 75 Arkansas schools, approximately 25,000 students, to show the film during Red Ribbon Week. It focuses on how easily addiction can begin and the tragic consequences of addiction.

Cabot Public Schools is making this video available to our 9th-12th grade students on Wednesday, October 25th, and Thursday, October 26th. Along with watching the video, there will be time for discussion as well.

Viewing Schedule:

CHS: October 25 & 26 (social studies classes)

CFA: October 25 (science classes) October 26 (English classes)

ACE North: October 25 & 26 (periods 1, 5, and 6)

ACE/ALE: October 25 (9:00 a.m. & 1:15 p.m. viewing sessions)

Due to the use of strong language, parents can opt out and chose not to have their student view the video by sending their child's school a written request. Students will participate in an alternate activity.

An automated phone call will go out to parents of 9th-12th graders Monday night, October 23rd.

If you would like to preview the video yourself and see the version that will be shown to our students, click HERE. Here is a link to the Discussion Guide as well.

The unedited version can be viewed on YouTube. Search for “Chasing the Dragon FBI.”
