CHS Lead Counselor Named AR ACT College & Career Readiness K-12 Champion

April 5, 2019

Cabot High School Lead Counselor Barbara Miller has been named the 2019 ACT College and Career Readiness K-12 Champion for Arkansas.

ACT is proud to recognize Mrs. Miller for making a positive impact on the community through her efforts to advance college and career readiness for all. The ACT College and Career Readiness Champions are individuals across the country who support ACT's mission of education and workplace success.

Fellow CHS counselor Kim Gibson nominated Mrs. Miller stating, “Barbara Miller has worked tirelessly to make students aware of and take part in opportunities after high school. She is a firm believer that all students should have an equal chance to learn about their options.”

Mrs. Miller is in charge or has assisted with the following at Cabot High School: Concurrent Classes, Career & Technical Classes, Articulated Courses, College & Career Fair Classes, helping students apply for scholarships, connecting students with Vo-Tech programs, Test Coordinator for ACT, offering sessions for ACT Test Prep, and promoting student career plan post-graduation.

Mrs. Miller has also made it her personal mission to encourage our youth and to make sure they know, “they matter.” With the support of the community, she raised over $15,000 for the “You Matter,” t-shirt project. Every CHS student received an individual shirt with a motivational phrase to show students we care and that we understand life can be tough, but that they are strong, and most importantly, THEY ARE ENOUGH!

Congratulations Barbara Miller for being an ACT College & Career Readiness Champion!
