CHS AFJROTC Unit Evaluation 2019 — Exceeds Standards!

November 15, 2019

Cabot High School AFJROTC recently participated in a Higher Headquarters Unit Evaluation. This inspection takes place every three years.

Congratulations to all of our cadets for demonstrating professionalism during their recent inspection. Some of the items the 172 cadets were evaluated on include uniform inspection, drill, and the overall JROTC program.

Major Peter Knox and MSgt Matt Atkinson are both pleased to announce the CHS AFJROTC program received an overall rating of "Exceeds Standards." This is the first time Cabot has achieved this result since 2011. In the words of their Regional Director, (Ret.) CMSgt Wayne Barron, “This program sets the bar for other programs to follow.”

Mr. Barron was impressed with our facilities, administrative support at all levels, and the “Excellence” of our cadets.  MSgt Atkinson said they did have a few minor discrepancies and he is extremely proud of the unit for their commitment and hard work.

In addition, Mr. Barron presented Top Performer certificates to the top 2% of our Cadet Corps. Congratulations to Cadet Lt Col Katy Kelly, Cadet SSgt Brandon Bear, Cadet Senior Airman Wenric Colibao. These outstanding cadets are just a few of the students who dedicate countless hours of their time and energy ensuring we have the best program possible.

MSgt Atkinson would like to personally thank the rest of the Group Staff, Cadet Maj Clayton Parchman, Cadet Maj Christian Pittman, Cadet Maj Emma Steffen, Cadet Maj Kelsie Lawhon, Cadet Maj Justin Dobbs, Cadet Maj Jadon Hewitt and Cadet Cap Maegan Houchins along with their teacher's aides for all their hard work.

Maj Knox says the CHS AFJROTC program remains committed to the high standard they have established at Cabot High School and is dedicated to serving our school, community, and nation with honor.

During their exit conference Mr. Barron communicated he would be nominating MSgt Atkinson for Instructor of the Year!

Congratulations again to Maj Knox and MSgt Atkinson and our outstanding program and cadets. We are extremely proud of you!
