School Board Recognition - January 2014

January 30, 2014

Many students and teachers were recognized at January's school board meeting for their superior accomplishments.

Master Economics Teacher - Mrs. Jan Loyd
Congratulations to Mrs. Jan Loyd, JHS, for being named a Master Economics Teacher by Economics Arkansas. Mrs. Loyd was selected by Economics Arkansas based on her passion and dedication in promoting economic literacy.

Landers Award - Zach Launius
Congratulations to Zach Launius for receiving the 2013 Landers Award for his outstanding football season and dedication to his school and teammates.

      

CMSS Geography Bee Winner - Rhett Thurman
The Geography Bee is endorsed by National Geographic. This was a competition that included 5th and 6th grade students. Students answered a variety of questions that included geography, national and world affairs.

After competing in numerous elimination rounds Rhett Thurman won the honor of CMSS Geography Bee winner.

National Board Certified Teachers
National Board Certification is an advanced teaching credential. As part of this process, teachers must analyze their teaching context and students' needs, submit videos of their teaching, and provide student work samples that demonstrate growth and achievement.

Governor Mike Beebe declared January as School Board Recognition Month in the state of Arkansas. This special designation provides an opportunity to acknowledge the hard work and dedication of our school board members as they focus on creating a successful learning environment for our students.
