Junior High Quiz Bowl

February 28, 2014

Cabot Junior High North and Junior High South participated in the annual Arkansas Junior High Quiz Bowl Camp in January where two students from each school received special recognition for their individual performance at camp.

Sharjeel Hyder, ninth grader from CJHN, and Spencer Hazeslip, ninth grader form CJHS, both made the camp all star team.  The all star team is made up of the top 8 individually highest scoring students from the entire camp.

Sharjeel and Spencer both provide strong leadership for their school teams through their ability and their character.

Two other Cabot students were given the "Rising Star" award for their grade level.  This award goes to the highest scoring student in each grade that didn't make the all star team...but shows great promise for their future in quiz bowl.  The two students receiving the "Rising Star" award were 9th grader Jared Gilliam, from CJHN, and 7th grader Briana Student, from CJHS.

At the 7A Quiz Bowl State Tournament Cabot Junior High South took 2nd place and Cabot Junior High North came in 4th place. CJHS team captain Spencer Hazeslip  and CJHN team captain Sharjeel Hyder earned the additional honor of All Tournament Team and an invitation to participate in the State All Star Tournament to be held in May.
