Trapshooting Team Excels at State Championship

July 14, 2014

The Cabot Trapshooting Team recently competed in the State Tournament of the Arkansas Youth Shooting Sports Program.  In mid-May, the team competed in the Regional AYSSP Competition where they placed 2nd in the East Region.

The top 16 teams from each region of the state go on to compete in the state tournament. The Cabot Trapshooting Team placed second in the tournament out of 64 teams after winning five rounds of bracket play.

The Cabot School District has offered Trapshooting for five years and currently has sixty students participating in this sport. Along with district coaches Jerry Hill and Mary Murtishaw, several parents volunteer their time coaching as well. Along with the title of second place, five students received a $1,000 scholarship.
