12 National Merit Scholarship Semifinalists

September 11, 2014

Cabot proudly announces that twelve students have been named National Merit Semifinalists! The state of Arkansas has 132 Semifinalists from 49 different schools this year. Of the 49 schools that have NMSQ students, Cabot's total places them 2nd in the state.

The vast majority of these twelve students have been a part of our school system since elementary school.

The National Merit Scholarship Program is an academic competition for recognition and scholarships that began in 1955. High school students enter this program by taking the Preliminary SAT and by achieving a particular score on the exam. There are around 1.5 million students that participate in this exam every year. Of those students, about 16,000, or 1% of the total graduating seniors, have scores which qualify them as Semifinalists.

CHS is proud to announce the 2015 National Merit Semi-Finalists:
Robert Andrews, Maxim Applegate, Payton Binns, Olivia Fredricks, Caitlin Harty, Ashley Holt, Rachel Hunt, Annalise Jirik, Sooyoung Matthews, Jon Dale Nichols, Alexis Weeks, and Vanessa Weidling.

This is a great honor for these students, and we are extremely proud of them. These students will have the opportunity to be awarded thousands of dollars in potential scholarship awards by achieving the status of National Merit Semifinalists.
