Up on the Rooftop…Read, Read, Read

December 17, 2014

Dec. 17th, 2014

Two rock stars camp out on top of Central Elementary because their students are Reading Rock Stars.

Principal Bethany Hill and Dean of Students Kelly Spencer challenged students to read 25,000 minutes between November 1st and December 12th.

Students could read with their families, read alone or someone could read to them. The kids have been logging minutes and parents have been signing off and returning it to the school.

Principal Hill told the kids in a school assembly if they met the goal, she and Mrs. Spencer would camp out on the roof of the school. They ended up not reading 25,000 minutes but instead 77,865 minutes!

So the two pitched a tent on the roof of Central Elementary Wednesday afternoon right before dismissal so the kids could see them. They even braved some sleet and rain. Parents and students visited them and brought them dinner.

They did come down for the night but will be back up on the roof bright and early Thursday morning welcoming students as they arrive to school!
