Robots Highlight New CHS Class
December 12, 2016
A new class at Cabot High School has students programming robots. It's all part of the AP Computer Science Principles class. It's the first year it's being offered nationwide by the College Board.
In fact, Cabot High School is among only a few schools in Arkansas implementing the class in its curriculum this year. As an AP class, students will be eligible for college credit if they receive a high enough score on the AP Exam at the end of the year.
The class involves coding and students recently demonstrated their latest project. They've been programming sphero robots. The challenge included writing a program for the robot, and navigating the robot through an obstacle course.
Students had a great time learning about coding and programming their robots. If you would like more information about the AP Computer Science Principles class, email Chuck Johnson at Chuck.Johnson@cps.k12.ar.us
Thank you to the Reporter Syd Hayman with the Three Rivers Edition of the Arkansas Democrat Gazette for covering the robot obstacle course. To read the full report, check out the story in the paper on Thursday, December 15th.
