CMSS Frontier Festival

November 8, 2013

Cabot Middle School South recently held their annual Frontier Festival.  Students began the day with a pioneer breakfast where parents, siblings, family members, and friends could join them in eating biscuits and gravy. Throughout the day, 5th grade students and parents rotated through several pioneer stations including demonstrations and lessons about fur trapping, flintknapping, quilting, bartering, log sawing, cooking in a dutch oven, fashion, and music. Each team made items to sell at Trader's Row, too.

Following a chili supper that evening, students, parents, and friends participated in a hoe down where they learned how to square dance.

CMSS is very appreciative of all of the volunteers who helped plan and make Frontier Festival a huge success. Without the faculty, staff, parents, high school students, and junior high students who volunteered their time, Frontier Festival would not have been possible. Thank you for helping give our students this wonderful learning opportunity.
