CJHS Archery Team Heads To Nationals For The First Time

The Cabot Junior High South Archery team is heading to the National Tournament in Louisville, Kentucky. This is the first time the team has qualified to participate.

This year the team (2014-2015) won 1st place at regionals which qualified them to participate in the state tournament. At the state tournament, they qualified for Nationals for the first time. 

Now sixteen Cabot Junior High South students have the opportunity to travel and compete in the National Archery in the Schools Program National Tournament in Louisville. It will take place May 7th to May 9th.

 

The team has been working hard to raise about $6,000 to cover expenses for the trip and equipment repair and replacement. This program is funded solely through student fundraising efforts. 

 

Results:

More than 300 students participated in the regional tournament this school year. 

  • Kaleb Garner (8th grade): High score in Middle School division with a 276 out of 300. Kaleb was the 3rd highest shooter, out of more than 300 students including high school.

  • Logan Frank (8th grade): Logan shot a 274. He was the 7th highest shooter overall including high school.

  • Sierra Fortner (8th grade):  Sierra shot a 259 and place first in the Middle school girls division. She was the 5th highest female shooter overall including high school.

  • Twelve of our 24 students made it in the Top 20.

State Tournament Results:

  • Logan Frank (8th grade): Logan shot a 279 ranking 4th in the middle school division. He qualified for Nationals in the individual bracket.

  • The CJHS Archery Team improved its score to take 6th place out of 30 which qualified them for the national tournament.
