October School Board Recognition 2016 & Annual Report to the Public
October 19, 2016

Four outstanding students were recognized for their hard work and dedication at Tuesday's school board meeting.
National Skills USA Recognition
Madison Stocks, president of Cabot High School Skills USA, competed in the state medical portfolio competition and won first place. She then competed in the National Skills USA competition and placed third in the nation.
Madison is involved in multiple clubs and organizations at CHS and represents our school and community well in local and now national events. She plans on being a pediatrician.
JAG Oratory Competition
Chaice Weatherly is a senior JAG (Jobs for America's Graduates) student. He works 30 hours a week and maintains a top level grade point average. Chaice won the state JAG public speaking contest which was held at UALR October 6th. He won a trip to Washington D.C. where he'll compete against 35 state winners at the JAG National Leadership Conference.
This will be Chaice's first time flying on an airplane! Chaice's supervisor at work says, "I've had many student employees over the years, but Chaice is simply the most respectful, with the best work ethic of any I've ever had!"
National Hispanic Scholars
Blake Mitchell and Joseph Sepulveda are two more fantastic ambassadors of our district and community. Both of these young men have been recognized by the National Hispanic Recognition Program and by College Board as 2017 National Hispanic Scholars.
This award is presented to around 5,000 academically outstanding students of Hispanic descent from the United States and Puerto Rico. In order to be considered for this award, these students have to meet qualifying scores on the PSAT and carry a commensurate GPA.
These two young men have worked diligently over the past few years preparing for the PSAT, the SAT, the ACT, and other academic endeavors.
Congratulations to Blake Mitchell, Joseph Sepulveda, Madison Stocks, and Chaice Weatherly.

The Cabot School Board also elected new officers.
Vice President Ricky Hill will now serve as President. Secretary Dean Martin will now serve as Vice President and Cabot School Board Member Mark Russell will now serve as Secretary.
Thank you to Brian Evans for being an outstanding president for the past year.
