National College Signing Day For Six CHS Seniors

November 10, 2016

Friends and family packed Cabot High School for National Signing Day to watch six student athletes sign letters of intent to play sports at the college level.

Congratulations to Brett Brockinton (Baseball - Crowder College), Maddie Brown (Volleyball - ASU), Bryant Cason (Tennis - University of the Ozarks), Logan Gilbertson (Baseball - UCA), Evan Hooper (Baseball - U of A), and Denver Mullins (Baseball - Crowder College).

The first signee was Brett Brockinton. Brett signed, alongside parents J.P. & Lori, with Crowder College to play baseball next fall. Brett has been playing baseball since he was 4 years old and is excited about the freedom of college. Brett is currently undecided on his major but when asked why he chose Crowder College, he said he had friends attend there in the past and they had a great experience.

Maddie Brown said Howl Yes to Arkansas State University to play volleyball next fall. Maddie signed her letter of intent with proud parents Justin and Cynnamon. Maddie loved the coaching staff and their program was a perfect fit. Maddie is excited to play at the college level and expanding her skill set. She humbly thanked all her coaches for getting her this far. Maddie has played volleyball since the 7th grade and has received numerous awards including All State 2016 & 2014, All State Tournament Team 2016, All Conference 2016, 2015, 2014 and AVCA/MaxPreps Player of the Week - Week 10 Arkansas. Maddie plans on majoring in Accounting and Finance.

Bryant Cason was joined by his parents, Chris & Jana, as he signed his letter of intent to play tennis at the University of the Ozarks next fall. Bryant has been playing tennis since he was 3 years old and is looking forward to experiencing college life. Bryant liked the small atmosphere and how everyone feels like family at the U of O.

Logan Gilberton is excited to continue his athletic career at the University of Central Arkansas, where he will play baseball next fall. Logan, with parents Kenneth & Paula, said he is excited about the academic program UCA has to offer and is ready for the overall college experience. Logan accredits playing multiple sports throughout school for making him a better player and more athletic.

Evan Hooper will be a Razorback for the University of Arkansas. Evan, with proud parents James and Shannon, signed his letter of intent to play baseball at the U of A. The University of Arkansas was Evan's top choice for colleges and he was their first 2017 offer. Evan plans on majoring in Biology with an emphasis in Physical Therapy. Evan grew up in Arkansas and is excited to attend the U of A. He is looking forward to being on his own and meeting new people.

The last signee of the day was Denver Mullins. Like Brett Brockinton, Denver will also play baseball at Crowder College. Denver has been playing since he was 2 years old and is excited about the opportunity to immediately play at Crowder. He looks forward to working with his new coaches and says they have a great reputation for making great athletic players. Denver, along with parents Wayne and Leslie, are thankful for the coaching staff at Cabot and for supporting him in this entire process.

Congratulations to all the signees. The Cabot School District is proud of each one of you!
