CHS Dedicated To Helping Seniors “Take the Next Step
January 13, 2017
Graduation is four months away and hundreds of seniors will soon be walking across the stage to accept their high school diplomas. Cabot High School is dedicated to helping every senior “Take the Next Step.”
Recently, ASU Beebe recruiters spoke to seniors about the types of degrees offered, financial aid, the application process, and what to expect when you meet with your advisor for the first time.
CHS Principal Henry Hawkins has a vision that all seniors have the opportunity to apply to the college of their choice and receive information that allows them to make an informed decision as they move forward. Principal Hawkins says, "We are looking at 100% of CHS graduates being accepted to a college,University or Vocational school when they walk across the stage at graduation."

English teachers are now helping students actually apply for college or the vocational school of their choice online using chrome books in the classroom.
Senior Jose Trejo says he always planned on going to college but had not taken the next step, until now. He says after listening to the recruiters he talked to his mom and now with the help of his English Teacher Liz Wilson, he's applying for college. Jose said if it wasn't for the help he would have been lost and maybe not applied at all.
Once students apply and receive their acceptance letters to college, vocational training program, or military enlistment, those letters are then displayed on the “Accepted Wall” in the math wing. Students give a copy to Mrs. Angela Beason. The letter is posted and their name goes in a drawing to win one of five $100 dollar awards. The “Accepted Wall” is part of the CHS Renaissance program and the monetary awards are sponsored by Jostens.
