Cabot Scholarship Foundation’s Roast & Toast Banquet 2017

March 8, 2017

Close to 600 students, parents, and community members packed the Cabot Junior High North cafeteria for the annual Cabot Scholarship Foundation's “Roast and Toast” Banquet.

The event recognized 119 Cabot High School seniors who received $124,050 in scholarships from the Cabot Scholarship Foundation. These scholarships would not be possible without the overwhelming support from the Cabot community and the Cabot School District.

The Cabot Scholarship Foundation, a non-profit organization, was formed in 1992 by the Cabot Centennial Committee to encourage and recognized academic success in Cabot Schools.

The night was also a celebration of this year's honoree, Dwight Daugherty. Mr. Daugherty is an AP chemistry and physics teacher at Cabot High School. He's been with the district for 20 years and plans to retire from teaching at the end of the school year.

Mr. Daugherty was also the motivation behind the Cabot AP Academy and the employee scholarship payroll drive. Employees of the Cabot School District deduct money out of their paychecks to help raise tens of thousands of dollars in scholarships for Cabot seniors. In fact, this year the employee drive funded 22 college scholarships.

Three of Mr. Daugherty's dear friends, Kim Usery, Jana Smith, and Cheyenne Wilson roasted Mr. Daugherty. They shared stories of laughter and tears.

Congratulations to Mr. Daugherty and all the 2017 Cabot High School seniors who were awarded scholarships this year. Also, a big thank you to the Cabot Scholarship Foundation and all the businesses and individuals for contributing to these scholarships.
