Northside Plants Trees as part of STOP Program
October 17, 2017
Northside Elementary students recently had the opportunity to plant trees on their playground. It was all part of the Arkansas Forestry Commission's S.T.O.P. program, Shade Trees on Playgrounds.
The goal is to help schools across the state provide a healthier and more inspirational setting by planting trees on the playground, as well as reduce the risk of skin cancer in children.
Before the tree planting ceremony, the students learned the importance of trees and how to take care them. Northside received five large shade trees, one representing each grade.
Thank you to the Arkansas Forestry Commission for bringing shade to Northside Elementary!
