Eight CHS Senior College Signees: Hendrix, UCA, & OBU

May 7, 2018

Friends and family recently packed the Cabot High School Media Center to watch eight student athletes sign letters of intent with Arkansas schools to play sports at the college level next fall.

Congratulations to Rail Gilliam (Baseball – Hendrix), Sarah Beavers (Cheer – UCA), Macy Bratton (Cheer – UCA), Abi Grace King (Cheer – UCA), Meagan Viele (Cheer – UCA), Allison Smart (Dance – UCA), Meagan Wallace (Dance – UCA) and Jordan Godbee (Swim – OBU).

In front of a large crowd the first signee was Rail Gilliam. Rail, along with proud parents Billy and Gina, signed to play baseball for Hendrix University. Rail is looking forward to getting to continue his baseball career and is looking for a new start with attending college next fall. Rail has been playing baseball since he was five years old and was a part of the 2017 Baseball State Championship Team!

The University of Central Arkansas is getting six of our student athletes next fall for Cheer and Dance! The first cheer signee was Sarah Beavers. Sarah, along with parents Michael and Robin, is excited to Cheer at the college level and is looking forward to new experiences and friendships with her new team. Sarah chose UCA because it was close to home and is strong academically.

Macy Bratton will also Cheer for UCA! She, along with parents Michael and Linda, signed to Cheer next fall and plans on studying Health Science. Other than for cheer, Macy chose UCA for the good physical therapy programs they have. Macy can't wait to meet her new team and to build new friendships!

It's UCA Cheer again for Abi Grace King! Abi Grace plans on majoring in Nursing while attending UCA and is looking forward to their medical programs. Abi Grace has been cheering for many years and is excited for the competitiveness that UCA has to offer. Proud parents Alex and Missy couldn't be happier for their daughter.

The last Cheer signee for UCA was Meagan Viele.  She signed her letter of intent with family members Misty and Beth by her side. Meagan is looking forward to living on her own and meeting new people in a new atmosphere. She plans on majoring in Biology while attending UCA.

Dance, Dance, Dance! UCA gains Cabot dancers Allison Smart and Meagan Wallace. Allison has been dancing for 17 years and is more than thrilled to continue her passion while at college. Allison's mother Jennifer is a UCA alumna and is looking forward to following in her mother's footsteps. Allison, along with parents Don and Jennifer, signed to UCA and plans on majoring in Biology/Pre-Med and is looking forward to creating new experiences.

Meagan Wallace will be dancing at UCA as well. Meagan signed to dance at UCA with proud parents Michael and Linda by her side. Meagan loved the UCA atmosphere and it's still close to home. Meagan and Allison are excited to compete Nationally while at UCA and will even get to take a trip with the team to Disney World in January 2019.

The final signee of the day was Jordan Godbee! Jordan, with parents Henry and Jama, signed with Ouachita Baptist University for Swimming! She said the coaches and teammates at OBU welcomed her with open arms and she knew it was the place for her! Jordan plans to double major in Nutrition/Dietetics and Spanish.

What a great week for Cabot High School student athletes! Congratulations again Rail, Sarah, Macy, Abi Grace, Meagan, Allison, Meagan, and Jordan!
