Mentor Surprises CMSN Student with Dream Gift
May 11, 2018

An amazing mentor recently made a dream come true for a Cabot Middle School North 6th grader.
Mike Emerson, owner of Express Printing in Cabot, is a mentor to 6th grader Nathan Smith. They meet weekly to discuss everything from school, attendance, grades, grit, and responsibility. It's part of Cabot Middle School North's ICU (Intensive Care Unit) or support program.
Mr. Emerson learned Nathan has always dreamed of learning to play the electric guitar. He contacted some family and friends and recently presented Nathan with his very own electric guitar! Nathan and his grandmother were overwhelmed with the generous gift.
Mr. Emerson says this program is one of the most rewarding experiences he's ever been involved in. "When I became a part of the ICU program, I wondered if I would really be able to make a difference. I know now that I am; these students have made a big an impact on me.”
CMSN's mentoring program is truly impacting the lives of not only our students but our mentors. The relationships that are being built are priceless. If you are interested in becoming a mentor next year, you can contact Cabot Middle School North.
Special thanks to Mr. & Mrs. Bill Holden for donating the electric guitar. Mr. Holden is the district's Director of Custodial Services. Thank you to Mr. & Mrs. Emerson for donating an amplifier and supplies and thank you to Jacksonville Guitar for donating a musical DVD.
