September 28, 2018

It was a fantastic evening with outstanding performances by our amazing district employees for the first ever Cabot's Got Talent.
Cabot Panther Foundation President, Chad Young welcomed everyone to the show. Westside Elementary Principal Sherri Jennings and Ward Central Elementary Principal Andy Sullivan served as emcees for the evening and won over the crowd!
The event's four fun-loving judges included: Cabot City Council Member and Centennial Bank Representative Damon Bivins as Wowie, Cabot School Board President Sarah Owen as Heidi Plum, CHS Boys Head Basketball Coach Chris Meseke as Call Simon, and Humble Thread owner Amy Hughes as B Mell.
The generous sponsor for the evening, Mike and Cindy Stinnett with Windows and More in Cabot, has served our community for 35 years.
Seven amazing acts competed in Cabot's Got Talent including:
Act 1 - K-6 Music teachers Jennie Brown, Keith Percefull, Christy Launius, Stephanie Clark, Jim Wilson, Tonya Baldwin, and Amy Whitt who sang and danced to the Greatest Showman hit, “This is Me.”
Act 2 - John West Band - Jan Sullivan - Guitar & Background Vocals, Payton Sullivan – Drums, and Micah Wetsell-Bass performed music by the Eagles. Dr. West, CJHS Principal gave a multi-talented performance playing the piano, guitar and …YES …singing to the Eagles.
Act 3 – Northside Elementary's Kelly Moreno performed a high flying lively baton and flag act.
Act 4 - CHS Broadcasting teacher Chuck Massey & the CDA dancers. “Chelvis” won the show with his rendition on ELVIS'S YOU AIN'T NOTHING BUT A HOUND DOG! His talented backup dancers from Cabot Dance Academy helped him steal the show by receiving the highest votes and winning $1,000.
Act 5 - Cabot Junior High North's Sydney Cobb won hearts over with a beautiful ballet performance.
Act 6 - Tina Latimer with the Fault-Line Band represented Special Programs. Ms. Latimer's son Christian Niell played Lead Guitar, Hayden Crafton - Drums, Matt Brundage - Bass, and Grant Adams - Rhythm Guitar. They rocked the house with a song dedicated to her daughter “SWEET CHILD OF MINE.” This performance won them $500 and the runner-up spot with the second highest votes.
Act 7 - Ward Central Elementary staff Emily Taylor, Jill Wheeler, Lissa Monroe, and Faith Ball warmed our hearts with a performance by “This is Me” and included a video of their students at Ward Central. They highlighted the beauty in all of us!
Another highlight of the night included a performance by the CHS Theater Department. Mrs. Tarvin's 2nd and 5th period classes performed a lively rendition of Footloose. We appreciate their dedication and hard work. We loved them being a part of the show.
Another big thank you goes out to the behind the scenes stage crew. Thank you to Elizabeth Yielding - Fine Arts Auditorium Manager, music teacher Logan Smith, and students: Chris Beason, Robert Kingston, Mary Lilly, Carson Reaves, Jessica Cockrill, Bill Armstrong, and Kyler Hayes.
Thank you all for making the Cabot Panther Foundation's FIRST CABOT'S GOT TALENT A HUGE SUCCESS. Proceeds from the event will be used by the foundation to benefit our students.
Thank you also to Cabot Panther Foundation member Susan Vaught who also served as event chair for Cabot's Got Talent. Without her hard work, dedication, and sacrifice, this event would not have been possible.
Special thank you to Madison Meyer, CHS Yearbook Editor, for being the event's photographer
