Mike Malham Week Following 300th Football Win

A Cabot coaching legend makes Arkansas high school football history! Coach Mike Malham is now only one of three coaches in Arkansas to eclipse the 300th win mark!

At Cabot's Homecoming football game October 12th, 2018, the Cabot Panthers defeated Little Rock Central 41-21 securing Coach Malham's historic win! The football legend has been coaching in Cabot since 1981. Following in his father's footsteps, Coach Malham was inducted into the Arkansas Sports Hall of Fame in 2015. He plans to officially retire as the head coach of the Cabot Panthers after this football season.

   

Immediately following the win, Cabot Mayor Bill Cypert proclaimed October 13-19 as Mike Malham Week! Athletic Director Rob Coleman presented Coach Malham with a 300th win commerative game ball. Family, friends, and his team surrounded Coach Malham as he celebrated another memorable moment in his career.

Congratulations to Coach Malham on his 300th victory win and for all his years serving the Cabot School District and Cabot Athletics. 

Coach Malham History:
Coach Malham began his college career at Arkansas State University playing from 1972-75. After college he was drafted by the Chicago Bears in the 17th round in 1976. Malham spent the 1976-77 year playing professionally at Chicago.

In 1981, Coach Malham was named head coach at Cabot High School, a position he still holds today. His 37-year record at Cabot (1981-2017) is 297-133-4 and is the 2nd winningest active coach in the history of Arkansas high school football. Malham has led the Panthers to two State Championships, one in 1983 with a record of 13-1, and the 2nd in 2000 with a record 14-0. He also has two state runner-up titles (1997, 13-1, 1998, 12-2, and 2013, 12-1) and has led his team to the state semi-finals 11 times. Malham also has won 15 conference championships during his tenure at Cabot. 

Malham was named Head All-Star Football Coach in 1994 and 2001. He led his team to set a scoring record of 38 points in the 1994 All Star Game.

Malham was named Channel 4's Friday Night Coach of the Year in 1997 and 2000. He was also the Arkansas Democrat-Gazette's Coach of the Year in 2000, and he was Channel 7's 7A Coach of the Year in 2013. Malham was also inducted into the Arkansas Sports Hall of Fame in 2015.

Cabot Panthers Football History: 
Cabot has had several successes over the years in football and HERE are the scores from the last 71 years! Since 1946, Cabot has won 19 conference championships, made 11 trips to the semifinalists, three runner-up titles and two state titles!
