Cabot Welcomes Scott Reed

December 19, 2018

A press conference to introduce Coach Scott Reed came one day after he was officially named the head football coach of the Cabot Panthers. Reed takes over for Mike Malham who is retiring after 38 years at Cabot.

Superintendent Dr. Tony Thurman welcomed the crowd and thanked Athletic Director Rob Coleman and CHS Principal Henry Hawkins for their work during the search for a new coach. During the last seven weeks, the quality of the people they visited with was incredible. Dr. Thurman continued to state, the reason we have so many people wanting to be a Cabot Panther is because of the foundation Coach Malham and his current and former football staff built.

When it came to hiring a new coach, Dr. Thurman stressed it was important to find the best role model for our student athletes who would not only make an impact on our kids, but staff for many years to come.

Athletic Director Rob Coleman also spoke about the hiring process. Coach Coleman said they met with many great coaches that have built successful programs across the state and out of state. Just like Coach Malham, he said Coach Reed will lead our football program with class.

Coach Reed was then welcomed to the podium and expressed his gratitude for being here. He said it was a tough decision to leave El Dorado but this was the only job that could take him away. He and his wife Connie, who graduated from Cabot, are excited about this new opportunity. Afterwards, Coach Reed visited with the media, staff, and coaches. He also had the opportunity to tour the Athletic Department and Panther Stadium.
