Cabot Transportation Team Members Receive the “I Drive Education Award

December 19, 2014

Dec. 19th, 2014

They make a difference every day in the lives of Cabot students and this week they were recognized for their dedication and hard work.

The first ever “I Drive Education Awards” were given out to nine Cabot School District Transportation Team Members.

Director of Transportation Roger Tonnesson says the best thing about these awards is the recipients were all nominated by other school district employees.

Congratulations to the “I Drive Education Awards” recipients listed below.

Robby West, Driver: Magness Creek would like to recognize Mr. Robby West, Bus 120. Mr. West does a phenomenal job. He encourages students to be the best they can be. He makes sure students get recognition for their good behavior on his bus. He will, also, go above and beyond to accommodate students to ensure they can get to school each day to learn. Mr. West greets everyone with a smile and is a positive influence on those around him. Magness Creek is proud to have him taking care of our students' first and last thing every day.

Dan Slingbaum, Driver: Mr. Dan Slingbaum was recognized by Eastside Elem for going above and beyond to help his students. A little girl lost her tooth on the bus and couldn't find it. She was very upset. When she got on the bus the next morning she found that the Tooth Fairy had found her tooth and left her a card with some money.

Glover Ward, Driver: Mr. Glover Ward was recognized by Middle School North for going above and beyond when a student was dealing with an issue. He made sure her mom knew what was going on and went back to the school after the route to talk with Ms. Duncan so the school would be aware.

Jannice Ellis, Routing Coordinator: Ms. Jannice Ellis was recognized for her work on our constantly changing bus routes servicing our after-school programs.

Judy Moore, Transportation Secretary: Ms. Judy Moore was recognized for her diligence in making sure all transportation team members have the proper documentation needed to get their paychecks on time.

Donna Baty, Trip Secretary: Ms. Donna Baty was recognized for working as a liaison between transportation and the parties requesting buses and drivers for trips. She goes the extra mile trying to make sure all the details are covered so the trips run smoothly without incident.

Bill Pay, Driver: Mr. Bill Pay was recognized by Mountain Springs Elementary. I can't say enough great things about Bill Pay (Bus #36) to serve him justice. He knows every child on his bus by name and always has kind words to share with them. Amazingly enough, he even knows what cars and/or people should be present  for drop off--there have been many times we have radioed him about a student that should have been a car rider, and he had already figured that out. He even had the student with him for the parent to meet. And yes, he will even take the time out of his route to bring a student back to school to use the bathroom in cases of emergency, a blessing to many a kindergartner. He is truly a compassionate, positive force, and even though I only get to see him a few minutes each day, he reminds us all how to be a hero in our daily actions.

Nina Bergan, Driver: From all of us at Ward Central Pre-K, we love Ms. Nina! She takes such good care of our little ones. She goes above and beyond to make sure they are safe from the moment they leave for school until the moment they return home to their families. She loves them like her own; they love her, and that says it all! She's one of a kind!

Claudia Allen, Driver: Ms.Claudia Allen was recognized by CLA. Please add Mrs. Claudia Allen to your list of AWESOME bus drivers to recognize. She is a huge asset to CLA by knowing the students and understanding their unique needs. We want her to know how much we appreciate her!
