CHS Forensics & Debate Teams Ranked #1 In AR
January 3, 2018

Cabot High School Forensics and Debate Teams are currently ranked #1 in Arkansas and #26 in the nation!
They also recently received another honor. The Cabot High School speech and debate team has been named one of the Top 100 schools in the National Speech & Debate Association for the 2016-2017 school year. Cabot High School ranked number 41 out of more than 3,000 schools nationwide.
According to the National Speech & Debate Association, due to the incredibly high number of students involved in our speech and debate program and the degrees they have earned through competition, Cabot High School was named one of the top programs in the nation. This is the most prestigious membership award the Association can bestow upon a school. This designation is remarkable because it demonstrates outstanding commitment to teaching students essential life skills – including communication, research, listening, writing, and organization.
So far, our teams have competed at five in-state tournaments and two out-of-state tournaments. These include tournaments at Bentonville High School, Monticello/UAM, Central High School, Russellville High School, North Little Rock High School, Saint Andrew's in Mississippi, and Isidore Newman in New Orleans.
Our students have won several individual trophies and 1st Place Overall Sweeps at four of the in-state tournaments, 2nd Place sweeps at one in-state tournament, and 3rd place sweeps at Isidore Newman in New Orleans.
At the Central High School tournament, Forensics Instructor Jennifer Akers was awarded the Outstanding Drama Coach Award for 2017.
Debaters Collin Smith and Kyler Buckner are also tied for 2nd place nationally. They were one of eight teams invited to the Harvard Round Robin Policy debate competition in February.
Congratulations to our amazing Cabot High School Forensics and Debate Teams!
