Leila Seigrist's Bio

Leila SeigristLeila Awwad Seigrist is General Counsel for Cabot Public Schools. Initially, in 2020, Mrs. Seigrist was hired with Cabot Schools as the Director of Human Resources and Legal Affairs and served in that position for two years before transitioning to the role of General Counsel in 2022.

In 2003, Mrs. Seigrist graduated from North Pulaski High School. She attended Lyon College in Batesville, Arkansas, where she earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in English and political science with a minor in Spanish in 2007. Mrs. Seigrist graduated magna cum laude, received the Outstanding Leader Award, and was named as a Truman Scholar regional finalist.

Mrs. Seigrist earned her juris doctor degree in 2010 from the William H. Bowen School of Law at the University of Arkansas at Little Rock. She graduated with high honors and in the top 5% of her class. While in law school, Mrs. Seigrist was named to the editorial board of the UALR Law Review and received the Brunson Award for Outstanding Service to the Law Review and the Dean’s Certificate of Distinguished Public Service. She is licensed to practice law in the State of Arkansas and in the United States District Court, Eastern and Western Districts of Arkansas.

After obtaining her law license, Mrs. Seigrist has worked in private practice advocating for victims of nursing home abuse. In 2012, Mrs. Seigrist was hired as the Deputy Reporter of Decisions for the Arkansas Supreme Court and Court of Appeals. In 2015, she became a Deputy Prosecuting Attorney in the 17th Judicial District of Arkansas, which includes White and Prairie Counties, and served in that position for five years. During that time, she was a member of the White County Bar Association and served as its president in 2019-2020. She has also been an adjunct instructor, primarily teaching oral communications, at Arkansas State University-Beebe since 2012.

Mrs. Seigrist married Michael, her high school sweetheart, in 2010. Their daughters, Sophia and Stella, are proud to be Cabot Panthers.
