College Signings: Football 2023

Family and friends gathered at Cabot High School in February to congratulate five student-athletes who signed their National Letter of Intent to play football next fall.

Congratulations to Nick Hazeslip, Chris Leaks, Caden Mimms, Abe Owen, and Caleb Shirron!

Our first signee was Caleb Shirron. Caleb (Offensive Lineman) will play football at the University of Central Arkansas next fall. While at Cabot, he earned All-Conference his junior year and All-Conference and All-State his senior year.

When deciding on which college to attend, Caleb said he really liked the coaching staff at UCA and they really made him feel welcome and at home. He is looking forward to playing football at the collegiate level and getting to know his new teammates. Caleb plans to major in Education.

Next up was Caden Mimms. Caden (Defensive Lineman) will also play football at Ouachita Baptist University. Caden made the 2nd team All-Conference this year.

Nick Hazeslip will join Caleb and play football at the University of Central Arkansas. Nick (Offensive Lineman) was All-Conference in football his senior year. Nick will major in Chemistry while at UCA with plans on attending medical school. Nick said that he loved the campus and the location of Conway. He is looking forward to challenging himself at this next level both academically and athletically. He said he will also challenge himself physically and mentally to become the best at what he does.

Our final signee of the day was Abe Owen. Abe (Quarterback) will attend Ouachita Baptist University next fall. Abe received All-Conference and All-State this year in football. Abe said the program at OBU felt like home to him and the coaches really took the time to connect with him. He is looking forward to extending his football career and getting his future started! He plans to major in Biology and to attend medical school afterwards.

Chris Leaks (Defensive Lineman) unfortunately wasn't able to attend the ceremony but he will be playing football at Coffeyville Community College in Kansas next fall. Chris received All-Conference this year in football.
