Southside Elementary Celebrates 30 Years

September 24, 2015

Southside recently celebrated a huge milestone. The elementary school was dedicated on September 22, 1985 by then Governor Bill Clinton.

Thirty years later, a celebration marking the dedication of the school was held on the back playground. Current students participated in a balloon release as former students and administrators, including former principal Jim Dalton, who actually opened the building back in 1985, came together to celebrate the occasion.

Along with the balloon release, a slideshow of old pictures played in the cafeteria. Guests also had the opportunity to look through scrapbooks from back in 1985 and look at class pictures from throughout the years.

Southside Elementary would like to thank Sonic for donating the balloons and Centennial Bank for providing the helium. We'd also like to thank everyone who came to the celebration, especially former students and faculty. It was a great day!
