CFA Students Learn Dangers of Social Media

September 13, 2016

It was an eye opening experience for about 800 students at the Cabot Freshman Academy.

Recently, a cyber crimes investigator with the Faulkner County Sheriff's Office spoke to students about the dangers lurking online and on social media.

The investigator even put some students' social media accounts to the test. Students were surprised to see how easily he was able to access their information. Even with just a name, he was able to pull up a picture of that student's house.

The investigator even showed students how taking a selfie could be inviting trouble. Certain programs can find the GPS coordinates of the picture, leading criminals to the location where the picture was taken.

Students we spoke with say they will definitely think before they post and they plan on being more careful when they go online.

Thank you to THV 11 and KARK 4 for covering this story.
