Has Your Student Received A Letter From C3?
November 8, 2016
The Better Business Bureau is investigating a company that is targeting high school students in Arkansas and other states. Some parents in the Cabot School District are receiving a letter in the mail addressed to their child from an organization called Right C3 based in Las Vegas.
The letter starts off by stating, “You and your student are scheduled to participate in an educational group presentation followed by a personal interview to help determine college admission and financial aid eligibility.”
The Cabot School District has spoken to both the Better Business Bureau in Little Rock and the Better Business Bureau in Las Vegas. They tell us C3 is being investigated and has had 133 complaints in the last three years and 51 in the last 12 months. It is not a BBB accredited business.
The BBB in Las Vegas says a majority of the complaints involve parents signing contracts with the company. Parents say they're told they can cancel any time. However, the BBB says according to the contract they only have a very limited amount of time to cancel.
Also, the BBB says parents are paying for services and information they could get online for free.
We did ask the Better Business Bureau how C3 is obtaining student's names and addresses. They said that is something they are investigating.
Please note the Cabot School District did not give out any student's names or addresses to C3.
