CHS Honor Graduate Luncheon 2017
April 17, 2017

It was a big day for more than 200 Cabot High School students.
The 2017 Cabot High School Honor Graduate Luncheon was held at Veterans Park Event Center. Currently, a record-breaking 229 CHS students will graduate with honors.
Along with earning a GPA of 3.5 or higher, there are specific course requirements that must be met in order to be an honor graduate. A student must also be enrolled at Cabot High School for two of the last three semesters beginning with the second semester of the junior year.
Dr. Heather Bodiford Bartels graduated co-valedictorian from Cabot High School in 2007 and was the guest speaker for the event. After graduation, Bodiford Bartels attended the University of Arkansas in Fayetteville to pursue her pre-medical studies. She graduated magna cum laude with a Bachelor of Science degree in Biology in 2011. After graduation, she married her husband Tyler Bartels. Mr. Bartels was actually last year's honor graduate luncheon speaker. He graduated from CHS in 2016 as valedictorian.
Bodiford Bartels received her Doctorate of Medicine from UAMS in May of 2016. She is currently completing her intern year at Riverside Regional Medical Center in Newport News, Virginia. This June, she and her husband will move to Lubbock, Texas where she will begin her three-year ophthalmology residency at Texas Tech.
Bodiford Bartels spoke to the Class of 2017 about life after high school. She recalled sitting at the same luncheon 10 years ago dreaming about her future. She told students to find what they're truly passionate about.
“College is the time to explore life, make lifelong friends, and try new things.”
She reminded students the paths to achieving their dreams will not be without obstacles. In the end, she encouraged students to find their passion in life, to chase their dreams, and enjoy the journey.
Thank you Dr. Heather Bodiford Bartels for sharing your story. Also, a big thank you to our hosts, the Cabot Chamber of Commerce and Veterans Park Event Center. Thank you to Zaxby's for providing the lunch as well.
