District Students Win Big at Art Competitions

We have some very talented students in the Cabot School District!

Here is a list of some of the winners from some recent art competitions. 

2017 Arkansas Art Educator's Central Regional Art Show

Six Cabot elementary students recently won awards in the 2017 Arkansas Art Educator's Central Regional Art Show. The art show consists of K-12 art students.

**For winning 1st Place -- Michelle and Sydney's artwork will be displayed in the AAE State Show this summer.  

2017 Federal Junior Duck Stamp Contest

Cabot artists dominated the 2017 Federal Junior Duck Stamp. Three students claimed the top spots in this year's state-level contest.

Cabot High School

11th Grade
Andrea LaFave – Best of Show - $1,000 scholarship

*Andrea will represent Arkansas in the Federal Duck Stamp Design Contest, where her piece will be judged against the best of show winners from all 50 states, Washington D.C. and several U.S. territories.

Cabot Freshman Academy

9th Grade
Landon Patterson – 2nd Place Overall - $500 scholarship

Cabot Junior High North

8th Grade

Auston Melton – 3rd Place Overall - $250 scholarship

There were more than 2,000 entries from across the state, K-12. Cabot had several more winners in the Federal Junior Duck Stamp Contest including:

56th Young Arkansas Artists Exhibition – Arkansas Arts Center

This year, the 56th Young Arkansas Artists Exhibition at the Arkansas Arts Center received 495 entries from 132 teachers at 124 schools/institutions across the state. Their panel of jurors had an incredibly tough time narrowing down that number to just 104 pieces – 8 for each grade level.  The jurors were impressed with the amount of talent shown by all the artists. The exhibit will be up from May 16, 2017 through July 23, 2017.

2017 Wildlife of Arkansas Student Art Exhibit

This exciting visual art contest offers K-12 students in Arkansas the chance to display their creativity. The theme “Wildlife of Arkansas” acknowledges the natural beauty of Arkansas.

Awards are as follows:

1st Place Winner - $100.00 +award and certificate
2nd Place Winner - $50.00 and certificate
3rd Place Winner - $25.00 and certificate
Honorable Mention - $15.00 and certificate

The exhibit opens with the Awards Ceremony Friday, May 5 at 6:30pm at the Witt Stephens, Jr. Central Arkansas Nature Center located at 602 President Clinton Avenue in Little Rock.  The exhibit travels to each Arkansas Game & Fish Nature Center.

2017 Governor's Young Artist Exhibit Competition 

This competition is sponsored by the Governor's Mansion Association. It consists of a statewide juried exhibition of artwork entered from across the state that addressed the theme of emotion and energy in art. The works will be displayed at the Governor's Mansion this month, April 2017. Prizes will be awarded at a reception in May.
