Cabot Hosts Special Olympics 2017
May 11, 2017
It was a great day as approximately 600 athletes competed in the Area 5 Special Olympics Track and Field at Cabot High School Wednesday, May 10th.
Opening ceremonies began on the field with a torch run around the track. Cabot graduate Derek Smith and David Dallas from North Little Rock carried the torch in with Cabot Police and North Little Rock Police officers.
Hundreds of kids from more than a dozen schools and organizations in the Lonoke County and Pulaski County areas participated in the games. Three-hundred athletes from the Cabot School District competed in the Special Olympics.

There was also a young division (ages 2 to 7 years old) that took place before the opening ceremonies. You must be 8 years old to participate in Special Olympics.
Congratulations to all our amazing and precious athletes and thank you to the countless numbers of volunteers which included military personnel that helped make this event memorable for our athletes and their families.
Big welcome to all the athletes participating in Special Olympics today @CabotHigh! We are proud of you! pic.twitter.com/Jpaw0i5qkh
