Southside 4th Graders Connect with Senator Boozman
May 23, 2017
Fourth grade students at Southside Elementary visited with U.S. Senator John Boozman in Washington D.C. without ever leaving Cabot.
Dozens of students had the opportunity to talk with Senator Boozman via Skype.
“These students asked great questions. I hope this inspires these young Arkansans to pursue a life of public service and to give back to the community. I appreciate the opportunity to connect with Southside Elementary students and share with them about my work in Washington,” Boozman said.
Students asked a wide range of questions about Boozman's work in the U.S. Senate including his advice for students interested in a career in public service.
Lindsey Pierce, a fourth grade teacher at Southside Elementary who helped arrange the talk said, "It was wonderful to have the opportunity for students to directly interact with our government. We teach them to be active citizens, and an opportunity like this to interact on a personal level bridges the gap for the children from conceptual knowledge to a personal understanding of how our country works. This is an experience that they will carry with them into adulthood!"
