CFA Teacher Receives National Crime Victims' Service Award

A Cabot Freshman Academy teacher has received national recognition. Laura Abbott has been honored with the 2019 Volunteer for Victims Award by the Office for Victims of Crime.
Ms. Abbott, who is a survivor of domestic violence, has made it her mission to advocate, educate, and help other victims. She's also been a pivotal voice in creating legislative reform, helped create “Laura's Card,” began the grassroots movement, “Victims' Rights Arkansas,” and has been appointed by the Governor to serve on The Arkansas Suicide Prevention Council and the Arkansas Commission on Child Abuse, Rape, and Domestic Violence.
Ms. Abbott received the award at the National Crime Victims' Service Awards Ceremony Friday, April 12th, in Washington D.C. Award recipients are selected from nominations in a variety of categories for their vision, action, and leadership in improving the lives of the victims in the aftermath of crime.
