National Signing Day 2020: Five Student-Athletes

February 12, 2020

Cabot High School recently celebrated five student-athletes as they signed their National Letter of Intent to play the sport of their choice at the college level next fall.

Izzy Arnold (Basketball) UAM
Hannah Ogilvie (Basketball) UAM
Caleb Miller (Golf) SAU
Kelsey David (Soccer) University of the Ozarks
Makeely Wade (Volleyball) OKWU

The first signee was Makeely Wade. Makeely has been playing volleyball at Cabot for six years and Coach Robertson has coached her the entire time.  When introducing Makeely, Coach Robertson said that in volleyball the setter is like the quarterback on the team. Makeely was the quarterback and center of their team.

Makeely was named All Conference and Offensive Player of the Year. When choosing Oklahoma Wesleyan University Makeely said, the campus felt like home and when meeting the coaches and players she already felt like a part of the team. She plans to major in nursing.

Kelsey David will play soccer at the University of the Ozarks next fall. Her soccer coach, Coach Felty, has only coached her for a few months, but he has already seen the fruits of her labor on and off the field. She is a leader! While at Cabot, Kelsey made All-Conference three years in a row. Kelsey was drawn to the campus atmosphere and academic program at the University of the Ozarks. She plans to major in Biology and would like to be a Dermatology Physicians Assistant after college.

The next signee was Caleb Miller. Caleb will be attending Southern Arkansas University for Golf. Caleb has been playing golf since a very young age at Rolling Hills Country Club in Cabot. Coach Malham introduced Caleb and said he is obviously a great golfer, but he is also a great student and teammate to others. Caleb has made All-Conference 4x, All-State 3x, and made it to the High School State Overalls twice.

Caleb says he is looking forward to his college experience, being on a new team, and traveling to different states to play in tournaments. He will major in Accounting while at SAU.

Izzy Arnold will attend the University of Arkansas Monticello next fall to play basketball. Coach Cook has only worked with Izzy for six months but said watching her develop has been a joy and nothing short of amazing. While being a member of the Cabot basketball team, Izzy was a 6A All State and 6A All Conference player. Izzy felt welcome at UAM when visiting and connected with the players and coaches. She knows college basketball will be different from high school but is excited for the challenge. At UAM, Izzy will major in Biology and would like to become a dentist.

The last signee was Hannah Ogilvie. Hannah will also be attending the University of Arkansas Monticello for basketball. Coach Cook said Hannah is more than willing to do her part, and her presence on the court has helped them have a great season so far. Hannah has been honored as an EBA All American Basketball Player and was nominated to be a member of the 501 Basketball Team. Hannah is excited for her new basketball family and new community at UAM. Hannah will major in Nursing and would like to work with diabetic children.

Congratulations again to our five student-athletes: Makeely, Kelsey, Caleb, Izzy, and Hannah.
