Cabot Varsity Forensics Hosts Tournament with over 1,500 Competitors

January 23, 2013

On Friday and Saturday, January 18-19, over 1500 students participated in the annual Cabot Classic Forensics and Debate Tournament. Twenty-three teams from Arkansas junior highs and high schools were in attendance, competing in areas of public speaking, acting, interpretation and debate. Judges were speech, drama and debate coaches from across Arkansas, as well as guest judges comprised of former competitors, attorneys, and theatre actors and directors.

The tournament is hosted by varsity squad members of Cabot Forensics and Debate, which is comprised of students in grades ten through twelve. Student Director Jordan Thomas was proud of the event: "Students in the department are responsible for the organization and execution of the different aspects of the tournament. We work together as a team, and we're all very proud to be one of the largest forensics and debate tournaments in Arkansas."

Next up for the team is the Searcy tournament, scheduled for February 2. The State Tournament will be held in Russellville in April.
