Project Panthers: District Flooring Upgrades

District Flooring Upgrades:
One of the first projects we launched was replacing the district’s aging, heavily worn carpet with polished concrete floors. The old carpet had endured years of spills and daily traffic, and removing it also helps reduce allergens and create a healthier, longer-lasting environment for students and staff. All schools and departments are expected to be completed by the end of the summer 2024.

Summer 2024 Update: COMPLETED
All district flooring upgrades have been completed. Carpet that has been in some schools for 30 years or more have now been replaced with polished concrete floors.

March 2024 Update:
Project Panthers is MOVING Forward! Our crews worked hard during Spring Break to complete more district flooring projects.
Old carpet was removed in the Media Centers at Southside Elementary, Central Elementary School, Cabot School District, and Cabot Junior High South, as well as the entryways to ALE and the office at Champs Hall. Students and staff are now enjoying new polished concrete floors.

December 2023 Update:
During Christmas Break, crews also removed old carpet from the Media Center at the Cabot Freshman Academy and the Loft at Cabot High School.

June 2023 Update:
One of the first project crews are tackling is the district flooring upgrades. As soon as school officially ended Friday, June 2nd, work began Saturday, June 3, 2023. Furniture has been moved, carpets are being pulled up, and floors are being prepared for polished concrete. Here is a look at the beginning stages.
Eastside Elementary, Westside Elementary, Ward Central Elementary, and two departments will have upgraded flooring this summer.
